About This Course
Managing and minimizing taxes in a real estate sale is of crucial importance to investors and Realtors. This will continue to be the case as the government increases taxes in order to offset record spending levels. Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code is one of the greatest tools available to property owners to achieve greater returns through reduced capital gains tax liabilities. Learn about Section 1031 like-kind exchanges from David Brown, who is an attorney, Certified Exchange Specialist (CES), President of IPE 1031 and a leading national authority and speaker on the topic.
This course is designed to provide realtors with a comprehensive introduction to Internal Revenue Code Section 1031 like-kind exchange transactions and is suited for both beginning and seasoned agents. Upon completion, students should be able to identify pitfalls and red flags; understand the exchange documentation process; identify important deadlines and procedures; avoid potential malpractice liability; and utilize unique techniques that will add value to their client representation. Specific emphasis is placed on examining real life situations and examples.
