Jan DeMott Honored with Distinguished Service Award

CLIVE, IOWA (Oct. 10, 2016) - The Iowa Association of REALTORS® congratulates Jan DeMott of Bedford, this year’s recipient of the O.G. Powell/Joan Ballantyne Distinguished Service Award. This award was presented recently at the Iowa Association of REALTORS® Inaugural Gala in Coralville.
The O.G. Powell/Joan Ballantyne Distinguished Service Award, the highest award given by the Iowa Association of Realtors®, is designed to honor a person who has given long-term and outstanding service to the real estate industry.
Jan DeMott started in the real estate industry in the early 1980s after completing a double major in only 3 years from Peru State College. She has been selling homes, farms, and land for three decades.
Jan continues her love of real estate with writing courses and teaching all across the state for the Iowa Association of REALTORS®. Jan’s passion and influence on our Iowa Realtor® community has had such an impact on thousands of students. Jan teaches pre-license, pre-broker, safety courses, Ethics and many other continuing education courses. Jan has been serving for several years on the Iowa Real Estate Commission and its Investigative Committee.
Jan has volunteered her time at the local level in so many ways over the years. She served as her town’s President of the Chamber of Commerce, served for 23 years as a Trustee for Southwest Community College, and President of the Iowa Angus Women’s Auxiliary.
Jan and her husband Lanny have been married for fifty years! Jan loves the outdoors. She enjoys fishing, hunting and attending sporting events. They enjoy farming and keep very busy spending time with their six children and fourteen grandchildren.
