Heavy storms and their resulting flooding wreaked havoc on Northwest Iowa on June 12 & 21, devastating countless homes and displacing residents. Iowa REALTORS® wants to ensure these Iowans are afforded the resources to rebuild their homes and sense of community.
More than 1,900 houses incurred damage during the storms, significantly impacting the housing for thousands of Iowans.
In partnership with the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF), IAR will provide up to $2,500 in housing relief to individuals who primarily reside in the following counties: Buena Vista, Carroll, Cerro Gordo, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Floyd, Fremont, Hancock, Harrison, Humboldt, Kossuth, Lyon, Monona, Mills, O'Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Pottawattamie, Sioux, Webster, Winnebago, Woodbury, Worth, and Wright.
Qualifications for the REALTORS® Relief Foundation assistance include:
- Individual grants may be approved up to a limit of $2,500 per household.
- Recipient must be a primary resident of the following counties: Buena Vista, Carroll, Cerro Gordo, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Floyd, Fremont, Hancock, Harrison, Humboldt, Kossuth, Lyon, Monona, Mills, O'Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Pottawattamie, Sioux, Webster, Winnebago, Woodbury, Worth, and Wright.
Assistance is available to qualified applicants as one of the following options:
- Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged during the severe storms on June 12 & 21, 2024. If mortgage is paid off, submit proof for the primary residence [i.e property tax bill] to receive a portion of the grant.
- Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the severe storms of June 12 & 21, 2024.
- Reimbursement for hotel lodging required due to displacement from primary residence as a result of severe storms on June 12 & 21, 2024. Reimbursement only covers hotel room and tax costs.
Relief assistance is limited to a maximum of $2,500 per household.
