As Iowans continue to pick up the pieces following severe weather in many part of Iowa on May 21, Iowa REALTORS® want to provide resources to assist in the rebuilding of homes and community.

In all, more than 1,200 homes incurred damaged during these May storms, significantly impacting the housing for hundreds of Iowans.  

In partnership with the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF), IAR will provide up to $1,500 in housing relief to individuals who primarily reside in Adair, Adams, Black Hawk, Buena Vista, Butler, Cass, Cedar, Clay, Clinton, Dubuque, Fayette, Franklin, Hancock, Hardin, Harrison, Humboldt, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Kossuth, Marshall, Mills, Montgomery, Muscatine, O’Brien, Page, Palo Alto, Polk, Pottawattamie, Story, Tama, and Warren counties.

Qualifications for the REALTORS® Relief Foundation assistance include:

  • Individual grants may be approved up to a limit of $1,500 per household.
  • Recipient must be a primary resident of the following counties: Adair, Adams, Black Hawk, Buena Vista, Butler, Cass, Cedar, Clay, Clinton, Dubuque, Fayette, Franklin, Hancock, Hardin, Harrison, Humboldt, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Kossuth, Marshall, Mills, Montgomery, Muscatine, O’Brien, Page, Palo Alto, Polk, Pottawattamie, Story, Tama, and Warren.

Assistance is available to qualified applicants as one of the following options:

  • Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged during the severe storms on May 21, 2024. If mortgage is paid off, submit proof for the primary residence [i.e property tax bill] to receive a portion of the grant.
  • Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the severe storms of May 21, 2024.
  • Reimbursement for hotel lodging required due to displacement from primary residence as a result of severe storms on May 21, 2024. Reimbursement only covers hotel room and tax costs.

Relief assistance is limited to a maximum of $1,500 per household.
