Committees
Committee, work group and task force members provide valuable input and help shape the future of Iowa REALTORS®.
Committee applications for 2027 are now open.
Applications for 2027 Committees close on May 19, 2026. Terms are generally one year.
If you currently serve on an IR committee, you must reapply using this form to be considered for reappointment or appointment to a new committee.
We encourage you to attend Iowa REALTORS® events to sit in on governance meetings and learn more about the great work our committees do.

Board Executive Officers Committee
Work at the local level! The Board Executive Officers Committee is charged with developing communications with local Boards and Associations, providing membership with information on Association issues, and attracting new members and affiliates. The committee is composed of the Executive Officers of the local Member Boards/Associations.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee ensures the financial integrity of the Iowa REALTORS®. All committees making a motion to the Leadership Team/Board of Directors that requires the use of IR funds must first forward the motion to the Finance Committee for review. The Finance Committee will then provide a recommendation to the Leadership Team/ Board of Directors regarding the budgetary impact.
The Finance Committee develops a budget to be presented and voted on by the Board of Directors. The committee oversees and makes periodic review of all IAR investments.
The Finance Committee shall meet in-person at least three times annually in conjunction with Iowa REALTORS® governance meetings, and virtually, as needed.
Forms Committee
The Forms Committee is the established committee that makes recommendations to the Iowa REALTORS® legal counsel on the creation and revision of Iowa REALTORS'® forms.
The legal counsel works to fulfill these requests, if applicable. The created forms or revisions are then presented to the Iowa REALTORS® Leadership Team for review and discussion. Final approval of any new forms or changes to an existing form is at the sole discretion of the legal counsel.
Iowa REALTORS® provides a database of real estate forms for all its members as a service that comes with membership and can be used by the membership how they wish. Use of these forms is not mandated by state law or any other provision.
The Forms Committee will meet virtually on a monthly basis.
Grievance Committee
The Grievance Committee serves as the first step in the professional standards process for Iowa REALTORS®. This committee reviews written complaints from the public and from REALTORS® to determine whether a possible violation of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics may have occurred. The Grievance Committee does not decide guilt or innocence, but instead screens complaints to ensure they are appropriate for a Professional Standards hearing.
Members of the Grievance Committee must be knowledgeable of the Code of Ethics and demonstrate fairness, discretion, and confidentiality. The committee plays an essential role in upholding professionalism within the REALTOR® community and maintaining the trust of consumers by ensuring that ethical concerns are taken seriously and addressed through the proper process.
The Committee shall meet monthly to review any complaints filed since the previous meeting.
Housing Opportunities Committee
The Iowa REALTORS® Housing Opportunities Committee’s mission is to empower REALTORS®, along with local and state associations, to expand housing opportunities and promote fair housing through the development of resources, facilitating discussions and fostering partnership for housing and homeownership access, while advocating for policies that increase housing attainability and elevating the REALTOR® profession by expanding outreach and professional opportunities for those seeking to enter the industry.
The Housing Opportunities Committee shall meet in-person at least three times annually in conjunction with Iowa REALTORS® governance meetings, and virtually, as needed.
Iowa REALTORS® Scholarship Foundation
The Iowa REALTORS® Scholarship Foundation fosters the spirit of a REALTOR® in our communities by providing financial support to graduating seniors seeking higher education opportunities.
REALTORS® embody character, service and influence in our communities. We seek to instill these qualities in younger generations. Through scholarships, Iowa REALTORS® Scholarship Foundation recognizes the character, service and community participation of graduating seniors.
Legislative Forum & Committee
The Legislative Forum and Committee is charged with the responsibility of the overall legislation activities of the Association. The Forum, which will meet weekly during the legislative session, provides an update from the Iowa REALTORS® lobbying team on current legislative proposals and allows all members the opportunity to provide feedback on any legislative proposals falling within the Iowa REALTORS’® Statement of Policy.
The Legislative Committee monitors, evaluates, and recommends positions on legislative and regulatory issues affecting real estate practice, private property rights, and the real estate industry in Iowa. The committee works in close coordination with the Association’s lobbying team to review proposed legislation, provide input on policy priorities, and recommend advocacy strategies for the lobbying team to pursue.
The Legislative Committee will meet in-person at the Iowa REALTORS® Annual Convention, and virtually as needed.
Member Engagement Committee
The Member Engagement Committee of the Iowa REALTORS® connects members with relevant, timely, and valuable information while building authentic connections across our association. The committee exists not just to deliver messages, but to create opportunities for members to connect, participate, and feel part of something bigger.
The Member Engagement Committee shall meet in-person at least three times annually in conjunction with Iowa REALTORS® governance meetings, and virtually, as needed.
Professional Development
The Professional Development Committee works to ensure the educational integrity of Iowa REALTORS®, shaping courses and assisting members in gaining vital resources.
The Professional Development Committee is a closed group tasked with helping guide and facilitate the education and professional growth of our members.
The Professional Development Committee shall meet in-person at least three times annually in conjunction with Iowa REALTORS® governance meetings, and virtually, as needed.
Under the purview of the Professional Development Committee will be the Iowa REALTORS® Leadership Institute Advisory Council. The Advisory Council will consist of five members, who must have participated in IRLI, of which the chair will be the current Second Vice President, and the IRLI instructor. The Advisory Council will meet as needed and report back to the Professional Development Committee with recommendations for curriculum and speakers for the Iowa REALTORS® Leadership Institute program.
REALTOR® Party Committee
The REALTOR® Party Committee promotes and supports the REALTOR® Party initiatives that protect private property rights, encourage REALTOR® involvement in the political process, and strengthen the association’s advocacy efforts. The committee works to increase member participation in RPAC (REALTORS® Political Action Committee), educate REALTORS® on key public policy issues, and engage members in grassroots activities such as Calls for Action.
Members of the REALTOR® Party Committee serve as advocates and ambassadors, helping to ensure REALTORS® have a strong and united voice in government affairs at the local, state, and national levels.
The REALTOR® Party Committee shall meet virtually as needed.
RPAC Trustees
The RPAC Trustees are charged with the duty of deciding which political candidates Iowa REALTORS® should support. RPAC is permitted to make direct contributions to state candidates, and upon request by local REALTOR® Boards for county and/or municipal candidates. Iowa RPAC is limited to recommending federal candidate contributions to the National Association of REALTORS® RPAC Trustees with regard to federal races. The affairs of RPAC shall be managed by a Board of Trustees, consisting of both voting and non-voting members.
The REALTOR® Party Trustees Committee shall meet virtually as needed.
Risk Management Forum & Committee
The Risk Management Forum, which will meet quarterly, provides an update from the Iowa REALTORS® legal team and allows all members the opportunity to provide feedback on any potential risks or emerging threats to the real estate industry. These forums shall take place in-person or virtually.
The Risk Management Committee identifies, reviews, and addresses issues that may create legal, regulatory, or operational risk for REALTORS® and the real estate industry in Iowa. The committee develops recommendations, resources, and best practices to help members minimize liability in their business and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
Visionary Council
The Visionary Council is a closed group tasked with thinking futuristically, brainstorming ideas, thinking outside the box, and proactively evaluating the Association in the ever changing real estate climate. The Council will meet at least once annually in-person at Capitol Conference, along with virtual meetings as needed at the discretion of the council members or Ambassadors.
The meeting will be facilitated by the Iowa REALTORS® Ambassadors, who will report back to the Leadership Team with any feedback or recommendations. This meeting is closed to both staff and the Leadership Team.
